Job Costing & Profitability Reporting

For contractors, machine shops and engineering firms, the system shows labor, material and margin on each job beside the cash position.

Job costs arrive after the job ends

Labor sits in timesheets, materials sit in vendor invoices and the quote sits in a folder. Nobody sees what a job earned until long after it closes. The system pulls labor, material and billing into one record per job and compares each with the budget. It shows margin on every open and closed job next to cash in and cash out. Staff set the budgets and review the figures. Costs the system cannot match to a job go on a review list for a person.

Frequently asked questions

Does the way time is tracked need to change?

Not at the start. Time is read from the sheet or app in use now. If gaps appear, such as hours with no job number, small changes are suggested and tested with the crews first.

Can it work when job numbers are inconsistent?

It matches by job number first, then by customer and address, and puts anything uncertain on a review list. A person assigns those items, and the matching rules are tightened as patterns appear.

Who sees the margin figures?

Only the people the business names. Access follows that list, and reports go to those addresses. The business decides which figures a project manager sees and which stay with ownership.
